Thirty years is an impressive period of time for any organization. The Lethbridge Twinning Society operates as a grass roots, citizen volunteer group. The members are "citizen diplomats" who aspire to make a positive difference in our community by their ambassadorship.
The milestone of thirty years holds much history of our Society. Originally established on July 07, 1989 at that time, we had two "Sister Cities"; Timashevsk, of the Russian Federation and Culver City, California, United States of America. In 2003, we twinned with Towada City, Japan and most recently with Great Falls, Montana, United States of American in 2014. Are our Sister City twinnings now complete? I venture to say, "No." In fact, I want to empathise "No" because sister cities has opened such incredible opportunities for mutually sharing in the ways of culture, economics, education and friendships.
Yes, we are celebrating our anniversary today on July 16, 2019, even more so, we are excited about our future. Our goals are to build on our established foundation and work towards sustaining our sister city relations, implementing novel ideas, using technology and expanding our framework.
Harold Pereverseff, The Lethbridge Twinning Society President
Honorary Chairman's Message
Thirty years-ago this month a small group of Lethbridge citizens came together to create a unique organization focussed on municipal friendships spanning the globe. The Leth-bridge Twinning Society has survived over this time because of the remarkable commitment of its members to promoting friendships across borders. Lethbridge currently has active sister city relationships with Culver City, California, Great Falls, Montana, Towada City, Japan, and Timashevsk, Russia. This demonstrates what can be achieved when you have citizens dedi-cated to building bridges where none existed before.

City Council's Message
"In a world where there seems to be a heightened degree of dismissiveness and intolerance it is wonderful to see an organization that promotes goodwill and understanding between nations. Once we actually get to know people from other countries and cultures, it becomes apparent that we have a lot in common and we realize getting along with each other is absolutely attainable.Congratulations to the Lethbridge Twinning So-ciety for 30 years of regularly trying to achieve a reachable goal of world harmony."
